ColorPal 28380 (Need help with choosing right microcontroller)

Hi, I am trying to choose an appropriate microcontroller for my ColorPal 28380. Actually, I am thinking of using arduino uno, but I found out that quite a lot of people have problems with it. So, is there any other micro controller which can communicate well with colorpal and its easier to do the programming? I haven did any kind of project before this, so may need some advices from you.

What is a ColorPal 28380?

It is a color sensor. 28380 is the item code.

Code for the Parallax Propeller is provided. You should get plenty of help if you use one of those, and have problems.
