Help with 3.2!

Hi, I am currently a grade 11 student in HighSchool and I am programming my Sumobot over the weekend. The thing is I am stuck on 3.2 Line Sensor Read. I downloaded the Parallax CD and was able to get the programs however they are more advanced than the ones in the book that I have. This is a very minimal thing but without doing it the program will not work properly I assume. Whenever I type 1bRight VAR lineBits.BIT0, 1bRight changes to 1BRIGHT. I have no clue what to do to get it to stay at 1bRight so I came here to ask for help.
