I'm sure this routing makes sense to some carrier's software package.

But, seeing that I'm in Ohio, one would think there are distribution facilities some place a bit closer and on a more direct path. I'm curious to see where it goes next after the drive from Orlando to Pompano Beach....maybe a ride on a charter fishing boat??

(Don't worry, it's not a Parallax product, no Propellers were delayed in this shipment!)

It does seem like the Parallax Propeller chip factory
is the center of the Universe
and is acting like a geographic magnet
    to this package.

This is called the "Parallax Lines of Force"
and any package moving through one of these lines
    is dramatically drawn towards
    the Parallax Singularity.

If it ends up in Rocklin CA, we're going to have a cow.

That's weird. How did it get from Bloomington to Orlando -- two days without a scan? It can't go by ground that fast, and it would take less than a day by air. I'd venture to say that UPS simply misrouted it.

I've seen things go a couple days without checking in before with air travel involved. BUT, It's getting better!!! FedEx is the carrier....the shipper (sub-vendor under Amazon) seems to have screwed up the address. All the other items ordered through Amazon with this item have the correct address.

I got my Prop BOE today. The UPS tracking showed that a label was printed on 3/19/2012 and nothing more until this morning it showed Out For Delivery.

A couple of days ago I called Parallax Sales and they said UPS sometimes forgets to scan the package at point of origin.

Kinda defeats the whole "tracking" concept!

    Incorrect address...

I was going to say the one thing you wouldn't want to see is "Out for delivery" in Florida, when you're in Ohio!

It's not unusual for ground shipment to go by air across country to a hub, then by ground, routed for the most favorable road traffic. OTOH, the weather has been generally mild this year, requiring fewer odd routes (which are all done by computer anyway).

Packages are scanned as they go in and out of a distribution point, but all the packages in a container going to one point aren't going to be individually scanned, because they are still in the container. Everything in that container is going to the same destination. So for ground shipment you'll see long(ish) delays en route as a container is received, then its contents are processed.

    @mindrobots..

That's ok.. The "other" package is going straight to you! (and not by way of Florida!)

What's even worse is when the status is "Delivered" and you didn't get the package!

Last December I was waiting for a digital camera to be delivered and was monitoring the status frequently.

I even saw the UPS truck stopping in front of neighbors homes.

When the status showed "Delivered", I managed to get hold of UPS on the phone - not an easy task - they really don't want to give phone support.
They promised to contact the driver by phone.

In the meantime, I walked and drove around the neighborhood in the rain checking packages on doorsteps.

I gave and came home. My answering machine had a message from the neighbor two doors down - he had my camera.
Our street numbers aren't even close to the same.

Then the doorbell rang and the UPS driver was there.

    What a PITA...

Well, after an email through Amazon, the vendor contacted FedEx and rerouted the package to OHIO. So it will only take 2 weeks to get to me.....as opposed to the "Faster Than Light" delivery service that Gadget Gangster can give me through Jeff and their Midwest distribution center.

Thanks Jeff, it was a beautiful day and you were slaving away in the shipping department!!

Fedex routing can be a complete mystery. Packages we order from Malaysia often go for a jaunt around China, and pass back through Singapore on their way to Oz. Singapore is only 300km from KL Malaysia (the origin). Go figure.

Once, at a company I worked for about 20 years ago, we received a package intended for a separate division of the same company. They were located on the other side of town from us, about 15 miles away. They needed the package badly but had no one that was able to come and get it.

They had us FedEx it to them.

It went to the FedEx hub (about 500 miles away) and back and was delivered before 10:00 am the next morning.

This makes perfect sense if you have ever traveled by airplane just after Christmas and had your flight canceled!

Then need to find new flight(s) to get home.

EVERYTHING is pretty much full, no empty seats on any flights...

And let's say you are traveling from NY to Chicago...

An exception to the full flights is Las Vegas. People are starting to fly in for New Years, but the flights are not all full yet. And the flights leaving Las Vegas are fairly empty. So to get to Chicago, there is a flight available from NY to Las Vegas, then from Las Vegas to Chicago.

So that is probably what is going on with this situation. All direct routes are full, but other routes have space available.

I would guess the route from CA to FL was by rail. That should be about 2 days.
