Behind the scenes prep for EXPO...

In a former life, I built custom homes. Now, (thankfully!), I have a job that my knees really appreciate :-)

While our Marketing Department is going gang-busters doing MASSIVE amounts of prep work, our Production Dept. is gearing up for a full-on production schedule for both Friday and Saturday @ Expo. Machine Shop will be "Full-On" as well, turning out Eddie parts and piles of cool thingys and giz-me-do's.

Anyway, as a small part of the prep for Expo, I'm building some fixtures. What you're seeing here is the beginnings of some "Robot Play Pens"...We're expecting TON's of Kids! These "Pens" will provide a really cool venue for playing with a pot-load of Boe-Bots, Scribbler's, Sumo-Bots...This-Bots, and That-Bots...

I'll update this thread with pics as we go along...(just be sure to wear your safety glasses while viewing)...

They need to be sturdy, yet easily stored for future events too...

Hey, are you planning to have some open floor space (and/or tables) for us little guys to show some of our Parallax projects? I can bring some stuff, and I hope to finish & bring my upgraded new robot catapult with IR remote/auto loader/sonar targeting based on my initial tests at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wBN9sTBDDLE

    And I'll have Ken's Flame-BoE-r too.

The kiddies and adults should get a kick out of both of those, but I'll need some floor space for 'em.

Open floor space would be cool. I could bring some stuff that I'm working on possibly. My best friend is bringing his 8 year old son, who's WAY excited. Should be a blast..

    Hey average joe-

You're right, we should have some space for "show and tell"...We'll make that happen! Don't count on any "floor" space - think more like "tables in a parking lot" space

Which brings me to the next question: How many of you are/want to bring stuff for show and tell? That way we can gauge how much space to plan for...

Are you kidding? It's NASHUNUL ROWBOTIX WEAK! Surely everyone is bringing something to show! Don't you wanna see what your loyal customers DO with all the wonderful free stuff you give 'em?

You can stop building Parallax-sponsored exhibits right now, we'll fill in the rest! I want my own 10x10 space! :) Or a big table. With POWER. You'll need to supply LOTS of extension cords....

    Point well taken erco -
Ironically, I'm the guy that's in charge of providing power throughout the Convention Center (aka parking lot).

Your FREE POWER allocation will be 375 milliamperes. ( I do take bribes, however).

Spoken like a true union convention worker. :)

Been there, done that, ( I mean with a roll of 20's in my pocket to get moved out first).

I figured I'd get as many of my robots operational as I could and bring them along. (Maybe a square yard of room?) I figured I'd be running them around the Staybrigde Suites' halls and confrence room but it might be fun to show some off at the Expo too.

I'd love to see what everyone else has been building.

Me thinks a small table (TV screen, pictures, and telemetry boxes). An alternative addon would be the Bonneville racer (very tongue-in-cheek) (That's a 10x10 space)
