build land water or air craft devive must use one or more parallax product...
BUT at least 80% of craft must be SALVAGE tada.
i made some floats for someone using basic stamps and bottles to monitor heat and light on his fish ponds.
WHY his fish bread in certain tempertures with certain lighting conditions and he wanted to add some medicine or feed em more during those times,i dont know, all i knew was he was paying me to do it.
this got me to thinking about making a propeller powered water craft to gather data on a local lake like wind light air temp water temp and then my PROP died and its been mulling in my head while i wait to get new props.
so then it hit me.
A compitition to use trash to make devices that can travel on there own and gather data.
i saw some guy at a farm show who made a working model plane with soda cans.
and i saw a youtube video with a tank made from wood.
so how about it?
anyone want to hop on this perhaps parallax my want to hold it for prizes and then they can also show it off for earth-day, you know?
it is just an ideal so be constructive none of that well if you want it you should do it stuff.
I'm just running it up the flag pole, you don't have to salute it but lets not spit on it.
old IR recivers from VCRs steppers from old floppy drives chips, wires, plastic and metal its all out there waiting to be turned into something fun.

Well that made me laugh
I personally don't have the time, but I think it is a good idea.

I'm not sure how you judge 80% but there are many reuse/repurpose opportunities. Many forum member I believe already have projects that fit this category!
one ideal is a 4 points of scores
1: amount or used parts
2: Energy saving/renewable energy
3:lack of toxic parts
4: purpose served successfully
each section gets a set amount max points like 0 to 10
But of course we would want to carefully refine and define #3: lack of toxic parts...
For instance does that include the prior contents of the associated part??

I'm getting hungry and also getting ideas for robot chasses...
A "SpamBot"... wait... I think that's been done.

I could imagine
the banner on the parallax site saying "Enter our Earth-Day contest to win ____________"
for what one big prize and a few little ones, it might make a good sell.
anyway thanks to those brave souls whom voted. id like to note for what time it was on the air junk yard wars garnered a fair audiance and lots of folks like to learn how to use used stuff. unfortunately most people don't know where to find their parts and peices, or what certain things can be used for.
here is on project that id think qualifies for this contest.

he could have machined drums and got poly moulded do dads but no he used soda bottles and wood.
i commend him.... here is a web cookie for his effort ^,^
