Don't make us lock this one too, Walt! Those acronyms you're throwing around are a bit much for a kid to read.

Honestly, I've locked a few threads recently that were simply headed in an unproductive direction. And I was part of the trouble, too.

OUR forum, but I'm one of the Keeper of the Keys. That green version of me doesn't bother me one bit, Walt. Try harder :).

Ah Ken, I have to admit, you look a little like the grinch.
But to everyone else, youll always be the big ol green master emerald that keeps this angel island afloat!
(if you don't get it, play sonic 3 & knuckles on genesis, get to sky sanctuary zone, or hidden palace zone and you will understand)

Also Walt what are you getting so worked up about? It's a forum, he's not taking away your rout to free speech, your taking away everyones right to a forum with integrity and intelligence and friendly jokes in proper categories.

@Sonic, you are *way* too involved in that game!

@SONIC, instead of actually playing the game I'll just ask my kids what it's all about. They'll know about the green master emerald that keeps the angel island afloat. I'll check in with them on that detail.

I did not mean to be disrespectful

The "Ken GRINCH" was just humor about you being the Boss @ Parallax.
    '
I Apologize if I have offended you.

    I hope all is cool!!!!!

From now on I'll post a lot less.....

I only have seven sonic shirts, a sonic mug, two sonic energy drink cans, a sonic snuggle, two genesis consoles, a game gear, a Saturn, a dreamcast, seven sonic cartridges and a few sonic CDs......
Also I told the story of sonic from the very beginning since 1991 and can PM anybody if they want to hear it....

@$WMc% I apologize if I implied you were being rude.....you made him green, so I'm like perfect time for a Sonic reference! He (helps) keep the forum afloat and running properly! Also he is green and has lots of powers.

No, no, Walt. It was an invitation to increase the jokes. Offense is nearly never taken. I laugh out loud reading these forums. I've been called Evil Ken, The Grinch, Boss, etc. You know though, Chip's the real Chief (not me). I'm just like a guy from The Office.

I like being the focus of jokes. Bring 'em on, Starsky!

    Walt

I cannot respond to closures of threads belonging to other people, but in response to the recent closures of two of my threads, I fully respect and stand behind Ken's decision to close them. One of the threads was on the verge of becoming highly explosive and the most recent one was definitely heading in a direction that I never intended.

Without a doubt, I highly respect the right to free speech, but as Ken mentioned, a lot of kids read these forums to learn, and we certainly don't want to teach these young people that it is acceptable to insult one another. In fact, I would much rather teach them to be kind to one another, learn everything that you can about the subjects that interest you, and if you don't have anything good to say, then don't say anything at all. However, in addition to that, I also believe in the right to self-defensive, which includes protecting and defending yourself from verbal assault, which could be the case in an open internet forum.

In summary, I believe that as keeper of the keys, it is Parallax's duty to close threads that become more destructive than constructive.

That's funny - I didn't understand for a while - I read the title and thought this was about shutting down runaway threads, and that Walt was frustrated because he couldn't figure out how to do it. I was really confused until about 4 or 5 posts in. :)

We need ten more of you too..

Most definitely!, Management should reserve the right to refuse service to anyone.

If you lock out offenders who repeat their offensive behaviors again and again, some good threads could be saved. It's those insulting individuals who are wrecking havoc on the Forums that need to be delt a swift hand. Clearly, Walt (a good guy) has made a strong statement impatiently about the frequency of recent thread closings. Did you ever watch the dog show, "Dog Whisperer?" There's an entire fenced off area of many calm passive submissive dogs. It only takes one mean dog to excite all the other dogs to adopt the same bad behavior. The one dog must be dealt with before the entire pack goes crazy. I have observed on the Parallax Forums that humans appear to have psychology similar to dogs.

    *******woof!!!

I know, Martin, and others will GROWL about the topic, some will WHINE relentlessly about content, and a few will BARK up the wrong tree. Audio technics only think about their big WOOFER, Propeller dudes are PANTING over the Prop II, and in general everyone should stop HOWLING. Of course the TAIL WAGGERS are too passive and the ones SHOWING THEIR TEETH are all bluff. If this doesn't RAISE EARS, then what will? Will posted content have some BITE? Just know if you have a COLD WET NOSE, you'll be healthy. Now go ROLL OVER and lay down.

You never can tell, it may get interesting. In my opinion, it is a very HOT topic and that is why most people are staying at a safe distance from it.
