Propeller Backpack for Video Overlay

Hi everyone,

I just got the Propeller Backpack and want to do text on top of video (Overlay).

It looks like in order to do this, I have to either use a prop plug (Don't have one) or use the Propeller Backpack Loader (PropBP_loader.exe) with a Basic Stamp.

The two issues I'm having are:

1. In the zip file there is only one exe file called LoadPropBP.exe - not PropBP_loader.exe as referenced in the instructions - No big deal, looks the same as the screen shots, must have been updated and the instructions were not.

2. The instructions also say "With the loader is included a special copy of Propellent.exe, which must remain in the same folder as the loader program." - There is only one file in the zip - this does not exist, and I need it - Anyone know where it might be on the Parallax website?

I'm guessing that when the main file was updated and changed from PropBP_Loader.exe to LoadProp.exe, it was posted in a new zip file and someone forgot to update the documentation and add the special copy of Propellent.exe to the zip...

Any help would be appreciated!!!

The current version of LoadPropBP.exe does not rely upon a special version of Propellent.exe. The features that Jeff provided to accommodate the Backpack in 2009 have been rolled into the standard Propellent (v1.2 or higher). LoadPropBP searches for it in the Parallax directory structure under Program Files. So, if you have the latest version of the Propeller Tool installed, LoadPropBP will find it. I did notice, however, that the current version does not support 64-bit systems as cleanly as it might. So try the attached version (1.2) instead.

    Hey Phil,
Thanks for trying to help here!
I get the following error when trying to go through a basic stamp using 1.1 or the 1.2 you attached:

I have a PropPlug that I ordered that will arrive this afternoon, so I'm just going to go that route...

Just out of curiosity, which version(s) of Propellent are installed on your system, and where are they located?

    Thanks,

    Hey Phil,

I got the Prop Plug yesterday, and I was able to get the overlay code onto the backpack - YAY!!!

To answer your question, the version of Propellent.exe I have is 1.2.0.0 and it is located in "C:\Program Files (x86)\Parallax Inc\Propeller Tool v1.3"
