Homework board with dim light

I have a basic stamp home work board rev b and using a 9v battery that is new, the power status light dims and shuts off. There are no shorts anywhere. It started after my program finished downloading and was having communication errors. Is there a fix or is my board dead?

    Never mind. The problem was a bad program. I had to switch the battery quickly while programming it. also for future reference, it will also cause the light to die if your wires are crossed or there is too much draw.
