Pull-down resistors

I thought that I would pull an input low with a resistor but soon discovered that while pull-ups work fine, pull-downs dont. Neither a 20K nor a 10K pulled the input low enough. Is that normal?

    There's got to be something else going on.

    I've used 10K pull-down resistors on lots of Prop projects and they work fine.

    What else is connected to the pin?

    For sure Duane is right!

    Maybe you have a small soldering bridge from a neighbouring pin to that one? Some flux between the pins? Breadboard? Another device that uses an internal pullup?

    Great question! It is the Gangster Gadget board and the SD slot is connected to the pin. Problem solved! Forgot completely about that peripheral.
