looking for a class/club, related to microcontrollers

Im new to the microcontrollers but have a basic grasp on electrical theory. I can't learn this stuff fast enough and would gain a lot from being in the presence of someone who was up on the programming, circuit improvements, proper components, ect. Are there any formal classes, clubs, or any way to rub elbows with others, rather than through the web or phone? I live just west of kalamazoo mi.............Thank you

In general, I haven't found any good robotics clubs around where I live (southern California). I've found it sufficient to hang around these forums, and to go to college (where there are a few smart people doing interesting things, and usually affiliated with a local IEEE student branch).

Many amateur radio clubs also support electronics enthusiasts. I belong to the Hastings Electronics and Radio Club:

You probably have one near you.

If you can't find a local club, you can always start one.
