Ebay Deal of the Day. I just had to...

http://cgi.ebay.com/%2450-eBay-Coupon-on-NOOK-Tablet-by-Barnes-%26-Noble/170782931109?_trksid=p1468660.m2000036

Enter $50 off coupon code CNOOKDEAL at checkout for $50 off.
Free shipping, but state sales tax added, so I paid $220 total.

Excellent find! I have one of the older gen ones which I rooted to run Android Honeycomb. IMHO it's a fantastic 'lil tablet!

(And great for reading comics, if you're in to that sort of thing.)

Older gen meaning 1 year old? :)

These days, it's a losing battle to keep buying the "latest & greatest" anything!

Jessica: I assume you mean the original Nook Color which is what I also have. If so, did you notice the performance decrease with Honeycomb? I went back to the B&N OS because I didn't like the speed of Honeycomb on the Nook Color.

Yes, yes, the original Color. I didn't even realize there was a Nook Tablet & Color now, silly me. o_O

To be honest, I never used the Nook as it was originally intended, so I didn't have any performance benchmarking. I got the Color a year ago solely to be used as a cheap Android tablet as I already had a Kindle for e-reading - I rooted it as soon as it was out of the box. I haven't really noticed any speed issues, but I do have some app compatibility problems (can't purchase things, random crashes, etc.)

Time to test cyanogenmod encore from a Sandisk uSD.
    http://download.cyanogenmod.com/?type=stable&device=encore
There is also the market available as a side download.
I started with a higher class kingston, but Sandisk according to the forums is faster in small read/writes.
In my case it proved to be true.

For non US customers this is a nice option:

I got mine here, refurbished, but it looked in mint conditions.

Anybody try one of these? It's an orphan, but they sold a bunch when they closed 'em out cheap.
