PhiPi would do well, but he's better when he shows up at Thanksgiving dinner [party of 12, the PILGRIMS]. However, consider JonnyMac, Joe Grand, idbruce, Jessica and OBC.
AS PART OF YOUR PARTICIPATION IN AND/OR IN CONNECTION WITH THE PROGRAM, YOU WILL ENGAGE IN ACTIVITIES THAT MAY BE CONSIDERED DANGEROUS, INCLUDING WITHOUT LIMITATION ACTIVITIES INVOLVING ELECTRICAL AND HYDRAULIC EQUIPMENT, POWER TOOLS AND MACHINERY, HEAVY OBJECTS, COMBUSTIBLES AND OTHER POTENTIALLY HAZARDOUS MATERIALS AND FIRE.
It's like you can't have a program about science or engineering anymore, unless 'SPLOSIONS! are involved. It's what Mythbusters has become in nearly every recent episode.

And for that reason I would not be discouraged from applying even if you don't know what you're doing. From what little I've seen of reality TV shows, the producers always pick a group of people who really don't know what they're doing (i.e. Gold Rush) but have just enough brains to be dangerous. So if you're ugly and ignorant, you might be just what the show is calling for. There's a certain "cringe factor" they like to provide the audience. Still got five fingers? Hey, then you've got some to spare! and you just might be the next star of Friday night braindeadland.
•Participant must not be a candidate for public office and must agree not to become one from the date his or her application is submitted to Producers until one (1) year after the initial broadcast of the Program.
•Participant may be required, and must agree, to undergo background checks and/or physical and psychological examinations and testing (to be conducted in Los Angeles by medical professionals or trained personnel selected by the Producer). Participant must be willing to submit medical information to Producer and submit to a medical examination, psychological examination, and background check.
•Participant must never have been charged with, nor convicted of, a felony, or have criminal charges pending against him or her. Furthermore, Participant must never have been convicted of or have charges pending against him or her for any of the following misdemeanors:
•Assault
•Battery
•Stalking
•Making terrorist threats
•Willful violation of a domestic violence protective order
•Threatening a public officer or employee with violence
•Intimidating a witness

As I already live in Hollywood and am an engineer, I contacted the casting office. My concern as my SAG membership. Turns out it's not a problem so I've submitted an application and it is being forwarded to the producers.

Heck, I worked on a no-pay student film in the middle of nowhere that used pyrotechnics; at least on this show there will be pros around the keep things safe (okay, safe-ish).
It's not the safety of the pyrotechnics that concerns me. It's just the fact that producers think they need them to make the show interesting. It's like the eighties where every movie seemed to require a car chase, followed by a fiery crash. Producers of these kinds of "reality" shows apparently require explosive gimmickry to obscure a lack of imagination. Either that, or viewers today really do require vicarious stimulation, since doing things with pyrotechnics nowadays that I did as a kid would land them in jail.

Agreed! But maybe they do for the general TV masses who are not scientifically-minded...
Actually, it's one of the reasons I've stopped watching Mythbusters over the past couple years. Their methods of testing are almost always flawed and they don't really seem to be investigating any 'real' myths anymore.
Of course, it also serves as an (albeit over-the-top) method to get people exposed to science who otherwise may have no interest at all.

Ouch! That's harsh.
I agree completely.
Tweetable Dunk Tank!? I love it!
