Hey Ho Everyone -
Our amazing Machine Shop Dudes wanted to show off the latest, coolest drilling jig.
Note how the Booms can be randomly placed on the jig, and then Kenneth simply puts the "slide clamp" onto them and the slides it toward the far edge - integrated self-allignment :-)
Drilling commences, and they're perfect - each and every one...
It's not a long video, plus you get to meet Kenneth for the first time!

Screw machine drills make all the difference. - gets the job done without a center drill operation.
MattG, how much longer till we can do the ano operation inside?
Nice jig!
That's right, Rich. We could eliminate the peck drilling, especially since 80% is an airborne operation.
They should be able to do about 200-300 booms before lunch. I'll have to check on Monday.

Yes, should be able to improve speed considerably with intelligent programming. At least no pecking for the air in the centre of the tube.
You would hardly have time for a sip of coffee before you had to change out the material.
Absolutely on the drilling method!... we were just in a hurry to see how the jig worked so we just used the same program as an earlier jig apparatus fab required.
What you see in the video was the very first set of production booms produced with a non-efficient program.
In this case I will say "We know that", but that does not mean that we know it all ... (I think that's erco's department anyway ;-)
I encourage all of you to Always, always, always point out ways that we can make things better, Better, BETTER :-)
keep it comin'!

Cute, but if you really want to speed up your operation, just slap a cordless drill in my robot's gripper: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CPk6BI5JtmY
