This Old BOE bot

I own a Scribbler, a penguin, a Tab Sumo bot, and a Chi bot Alpha (CBA). But until yesterday I did not own a BOE Bot. An eBay purchase fixed this oversight. The BOE bot is in good shape, except for some battery leakage in the battery holder and dry rot on the tires.

Any suggestions for replacement tires? Something sporty would be nice, not plain old rubber bands.

Besides rounding out my collection, I was tired of taking sensors off CBA to mount other sensors. Now those sensors have a permanent home, until I buy more sensors.

Martin - we have a special kit called the Boe-Bot Refresher Pack http://www.parallax.com/Store/Microcontrollers/BASICStampModules/tabid/134/ProductID/480/List/1/Default.aspx?SortField=UnitCost,ProductName and a Wheel/Tire kit http://www.parallax.com/tabid/768/ProductID/412/Default.aspx that'll bring you up to date with the Boe-Bot.

I realize you don't expect anything from us, but as a valued forum contributor we should upgrade your Boe-Bot - please drop me an e-mail to kgracey@parallax.com with your shipping address.

Ken: Speaking of robotic upgrades, it's high time you introduced the Flame-BOEr add-on ? I have some prior experience to offer you:

    Martin,

I've been planning on using a pair of those rubber bands kid use a bracelets for my Boe-Bot's wheels. I haven't tested them yet. I'm not sure how well they will stay on.

I dug my Boe-Bot out of retirement in preparation for the new Prop-Boe.

erco, if I send you a new Boe-Bot kit could you mount a flamethrower on the top? I'll take full responsibility and all associated liability, of course.

I'll sweeten the deal with a PropBOE and a couple of new sensors, too.

    What do ya say?

How much fire do you want?

Enough fire to get the guest's attention. Not enough fire to catch the building on fire.

Let's see if erco takes the bait and if he doesn't I'll cast a lure your way. This way we'll have the left and right coast covered.

    Thanks Walt!

Sure, and I'll deliver it in person! I'll HAVE to drive it up, since neither TSA nor USPS would acccept pressurized cannisters of flammable gas...

Please confirm your shipping address to kgracey@parallax.com. Another reason it's fun to go to work!

Bring your bicycle when you deliver this thing, too.

Heck Walt, you forced my hand !

I've built a few flamethrowers, I have some stories. No one's gotten hurt yet, that's the best part!

For anyone that hasn't seen my 25th anniversary party video yet, have peek at all the pyrotechnic carnage:

It took me a while to see the 25th anniversary connection. It's melting solder, right? Solder, silver, same thing.

You must have been a riot on your wedding day!
