You can get the default program from the S2 page at http://www.parallax.com/go/S2

The factory settings are not available as an .scb file, since they were not produced using the GUI. However, you should be able to restore them from the GUI using the button with the halo over the S2 (i.e. the "immaculate S2" :) ).

I'm a little confused by what you're saying: the GUI is the "graphics program."

BTW, I hadn't noticed before that this was your first post, so welcome to the Parallax forum!

So, you DO get a connection error? what is the exact error message you see?

The S2 program and the Propeller tool are two different programs, both will work for the S2.
Are you trying to put a .Spin program into the S2 from the Propeller tool? You would want to press F10, or F11...

I purchased one for my son for xmas and we are having the same problem. We can upload a program that he has written with the gui program and it works fine but we can not restore from the factory restore button. The blue light go's out and it looks to be working but a could not connect to the scribbler message comes up. Any ideas?

By "restore button" do you mean the icon in the GUI as shown in post #7?

    What message do you see?

The default program uses the light sensors as a menu selection device. These sensors need a lot of light to operate correctly.
