TBot in education update...

I delivered a dozen TBots to a combined primary/secondary school today and got to sit in on a series of planning meetings with a total of ~25 teachers who'll be using them in their classes, ranging from 1st grade to 13th, physics, math, technology, media, science, etc. They're planning on rolling out the bots and the 12Blocks language to all 300+ students and are making long term plans for next 10 years. In addition to programming the TBots, they'll also use 12Blocks to program simple PICAXE-based experiments. Lots of talk about clubs and competitions as well. They're excited about collaborating on a robot curriculum and are keen to share it virtually via internet and video conferencing with the 14 sister schools in their cluster as well as the world. I'm very excited!

Congratulations! It's great to hear about such uptake of robotics/electronics in pre-university schools.

Thanks! I think we'll see a big shift in education in the next decade toward interactive technologies and techniques proven to improve learning concepts instead of memorizing lists of facts. Robots will play a big part in that...
