I just saw one of these in the store today: http://www.ebay.com/itm/12V-Automotive-Settings-Keeper-w-9V-Battery-/170759588809?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item27c2108bc9
Basically, you plug a 9V battery into your cigarette lighter (oops, power point) to keep your radio, seat, gps, whatever memory settings alive while you disconnect your battery. BUT your ignition has to be in the "accessory" position for the socket to be connected to the battery circuit, plus they warn you to pull all fuses for dome lights & anything else that might try to connect to 12V. Sounds like a lot of work to me.
Interesting concept, but more trouble than it's worth. I guess I'll just manually reset my clock. Or temp connect a 12V gel cell across the battery terminals.
I think the people who are tempted to buy this wouldn't know which fuses to pull anyway.
