I have a question about USB(sensor) to RS232(propeller chip)

The following is our laser scanner sensor:

URG-04LX-UG01(NOT URG-04LX !!!)

It only USB port (Not supply RS232)

How could I transform form USB to RS232. Then send Rx/Tx connand to the propeller chip(NOT PC or Notebook).

Thank you!

Can we bypass the USB hardware? If the signal could be brought out of the part and to an I/O pin, perhaps a direct connection would work.

For example, I would open one up and supply power and I/O to a prop pin, and skip the USB completely, since the "use two USB cable to supply sufficient power" statement look flakey.

How much do these cost, can we order them?

Those are a bit expensive to start hacking. I found one at the Robot Shop. $1175 ouch.

This will likely be tough to get it to work directly with the Prop. LimeScan has done some work with a USB host on the Prop. It's still experimental. Maybe a Beagle Board or a netbook would work?
