Unofficial Propeller Expo UPEW 2012 : Official Information

There has been a lot of confusion about the Parallax Expo and the Unofficial Propeller Expo UPEW this year.

The Unofficial Propeller Expo is joining the Parallax Expo for 2012. Everything you know and love about UPEW will be the same with the addition of folks who are excited about ROBOTS, BASIC STAMPS, SX, and all manner of Parallax products. UPENE has always had a great robotics showing, and combining UPEW with the National Robotics Week will bring them to UPEW as well. You Propellerheads can now openly admit you also own BASIC STAMPS. :)

The official UPEW page has been updated to reflect this as well as a link to the "Official" registration which will be through the Parallax Expo registration page. http://www.propellerpowered.com/expo

http://www.propellerpowered.com/expo/ -:- Official Information Site for UPEW, UPEC, & UPENE 2012
http://parallaxexpo.eventbrite.com/ -:- Official registration page for UPEW, National Robotics Week, and Parallax Expo.

Hopefully, this clears up some of the confusion..

How does the registration quota for the combined event compare with that of prior, individual events? IOW, do UPEW enthsiasts now have to compete with roboticists for the same number of registration slots, resulting a smaller effective UPEW for the real Prop heads? Procrastinators need to know! :)

Sounds like the Mercedes might be ready for a road trip. :) It will be much cooler in April. :)

Doesn't look like I can do the 5,718 mile round trip in my 454 CID Suburban. Bad carbon footprint and all that. :)

There will be plenty of room for all, as we will have tents outside of the building for additional contests, trainings, demonstrations, etc. The best reason to not procrastinate about getting yourself a ticket is once we hit a certain number of attendees, the free tickets will become $10 tickets.

The last time I drove down (June 2009), diesel was about $2.60/gal. Now it's over $4.00. But you're right, the weather will be much more pleasant in April for driving. 'Still dithering. 'Don't wanna lay claim to a ticket if I'm not sure I'll use it. (I have commitment issues. :) )

What does this change mean for vendors? Is Parallax still going to let 3rd parties sell stuff?

Also, any thought on selling t-shirts?

BTW: I'm still waiting for a UPEA (Australia) or maybe UPENZ (New Zealand)... Maybe next year?

Vendors! They're encouraged, welcomed, and supported throughout the event. Bring it all, sell it all! No restrictions; only support.

I'm still trying to work out the details to come. Any chance of a "sell out" and I miss my opportunity?

I love event T-Shirts! They're a great souvenir and I claim it as clothes shopping. :) (I bought about 4-5 of the UPEC t-shirts two years ago.)

Presentations and vendors are encouraged. Jeff Ledger is going to be handling the vendor registration for the UPEW section of the event. All vendors should email him to secure a space. jeff@propellerpowered.com. The UPEW portion of the event will largely be held in the same place as usual (training area) of the Parallax building. The rest of the event will be held outside in tents. Tickets are selling fast and we're looking forward to a busy event! I suggest everyone get their tickets as early as possible.

On the website it says that registration for the free ticket closes on January 20th. Is it a possibility that it will close earlier?

    @Jen

Could you have one of the Parallax "graphics arts" geniuses do a large, single page Propeller graphic and attach it to this thread?

This way folks could print it, sticking it in their car windows, luggage to let others know they can provide an extra seat in the car when folks go to the hotel, restaurants, etc. It'll help us all find each other.

    Thanks!
