ping ultrasonic ranging sounds and the cat

Hi All,

Has anyone found that the ping ultrasonic sounds are detectable by your cat? Does it annoy your cat? Our cat seems to be able to hear this and in general does not look like he likes it. He has made faces like 'gona be sick', or perhaps is going to puke up a fur ball... Shut it off, and he is fine. But turn on the ping and he is just not happy. Plus the point where he looks is sometimes the reflection point on a wall, other times it is the ping sensor.

Comments?

Thanks,
Walt,

When I was playing around with a 40 kHz transmitter and receiver, my cat could obviously hear the signal and came over to investigate. It didn't seem to bother him. I wasn't using much power, though.

Browser hasn't demonstrated any response to my Ping))). Maybe it's just age (16+ years) and too much loud kitty rock when he was an adolescent.

I have used my pings with no obvious effect on my wifes cat. Maybe this is why Brandy has very little to do with me!

Something that annoys cats? Very interesting. Maybe I'll have to buy one of these.

    Or twenty.
