Confused about which program to download...

im in an engineering tech class at school, im a junior. our teacher got us to buy the sumo bot kits and i've got mine put together based on all the models in the booklets that came with it. he told us to download "Visual Basic" and i did, and then he told us we could also download the programs off of the parallax website but im confused about which one(s). I'm very new to electrical things and am more of a working with my hands type, but am willing to learn about all this stuff. so any help is much appreciated im just very confused on how to do the programming.

Down near the bottom, on the right side, use the links to download the SumoBot Source Code.

Download the BASIC STAMP editor for your computer. Use that editor to modify and upload the SumoBot source code to your bot.
Sorry, cant help with Visual Basic.
