I am looking for a laser diode that is similar to this one. Only differences is that I need it ti be in the visible range.

...Anyone know of a cheap small laser pointer? I would love to integrate it into a customers design?
You can get diode lasers from digikey quite easily.

To make life easy, stick with one that already has the driver with it so you can just supply it the required power and you're done. Also, if you're only doing visible stuff, then a .5mw or less diode is all you need.

These are not laser pointers, though, and they are not cheap (~US$23 each for small lots). You would have some special reason for wanting a VCSEL (as noted in their FAQ and white papers) in contrast to a standard edge emitter.

Thanks for the digikey link but I have to admit that was the first place I looked and quite frankly these are just too big. I supose I may have to make something like this work but I wanted to exhaust all other means first.

Thanks and you weren't kidding the price is outrageous, at least for my clients design. Ergh, the story of my life, like taking Martha Stewart and cutting one arm off while asking her to sew curtains. It will get done but wont be as nice.

That looks promising but I am going to have to see about pricing tomorrow.
Fingers crossed - cause I need ~40 diodes for this project. Overall I have an excellent source of collimating lenses that are small (6mm dia.), effective and cheap. Yet the laser diode / pump diode seems to be the monster so far.
