New to the forums: Boe Bot a good way to learn VB?

I want to learn VB and think starting with a boe bot and activity kit combo (currently for sale in the store) would be a fun way to stay motivated and learn a new hobby at the same time. Is this platform a good way to engage VB like I think it is or are there limitations and variants/modifications that I am not considering or aware of that might not make using the boe bot basic stamp platform a viable approach to gaining familiarity with basic?
I'd appreciate the community's insights.
Thanks!

The BoeBot is programmed in PBasic not Visual Basic (VB). If you looking to learn electronic and embedded programming - code that runs on a microcontroller - the BoeBot is a great way to go.
VB applications generally run on a PC. If your goal is to write Windows applications the BoeBot might not be much help. However, BoeBot and its wealth of tutorials will teach standard programming techniques that apply to any programming language.
