Before starting at Parallax, I grew up in Florida. So when I make the 7+ hour trek back for the holidays, I usually make the trip count and take a couple weeks.
This time, I was invited to speak at the FamiLAB hackerspace in Longwood, FL, which is very near where I went to college: the University of Central Florida in Orlando.
I brought along 25 of the QuickStart + FM Radio Receiver kits and led a short class on the basics of programming the Propeller. Everyone really seemed to enjoy the lesson and were amazed at how powerful the Propeller chip was and at how easy it was to get started. By the end of the workshop, almost everyone was customizing their radio and devising new projects and applications. One of the members even made these great custom mounting plates:
So don't be surprised if you see a couple FamiLAB members prowling the forums now, and be sure to give them a big welcome. And if you live in the Central Florida area, be sure to check them out, they've got a really awesome space!

Enjoy Florida. Calling for snow in the Northeast tonight.
