Time to unload some more junk. This time it's a Palm III PDA:

attachment.php?attachmentid=87614&d=1323637230

The lot includes:
  • Palm III PDA, CDROM, and Sync cradle (missing the manual)
  • RS232 cable
  • Palm Portable Folding Keyboard, pouch, and manual
  • Three extra styli
  • Book: Palm Pilot: The Ultimate Guide (missing the accompnaying CDROM)
  • Book: Palm Programming: The Developer's Guide, with CDROM
Free, including shipping, to the person replying in this thread first, and who follows up within 24 hours with an email giving me their postal address. (My email address is in my profile.) Sorry, U.S. destinations only. BTW, if I subsequently find the two missing items, I'll send them along later.

I hope whoever gets this stuff finds it more useful than I did. If not, just pass it on to the next sucker individual.

PhiPi, you're generous to a fault. Note that I am NOT attaching my address. This too, shall pass! :)

    ... generous to a fault.

Not really. Have you looked at the prices on eBay? It's not worth the trouble to list it there. Besides, I'd rather see someone in the forum community benefit, and it helps me to reduce my "stuff" load (although it's like attempting to melt a glacier with a blow dryer :) ).

Hey Phil. I had the earlier Palm Pilot II. I programmed it to record sailing results for up to 100 boats. Had to restart the timer when we had 160 boats in one regatta. Worked great and I sold a number of copies also via PalmGear. I linked the results to a very complex Excel file that calculated all the results automatically. Within 15 minutes of coming ashore, all results were printed. Alas, I have not run any regattas for some years now.

That was my first and only real C program.

Man I used the 7734 out of mine until it met an untimely end and was replaced by a zire71 (##@$ shoulda waited). Kept notes, passwords, timesheets etc. Only wished that the desktop had an equivalent or better version for linux than windows. Lots of use as a terminal. Especially working on some medical imaging systems like the Philips ultrasound before they remembered to turn off the echo to serial ports of errors and system status.......

And yes, it was quite true that used long enough, your hand printing would tend to deteriorate when you tried regular paper again. Mine did......

    @Frank,

The keyboard is an absolute HOOT!!!

A full size keyboard that folds up to a pack a little larger than the Palm itself.

    Amazing!

I still use my Palm Tungsten T3.. haven't found anything that can fully replace it. The only thing it didn't like was when I tried to make it into a wi-fi internet device, the wi-fi SDIO card sucked power and it often hung the T3 (so that it whitescreened and needed a re-install). In fact I've got two T3s, I switched between them as and when they whitescreened. However, after I got my first useful portable internet device (the Nokia N800) which could take over the internet type stuff I stopped using the wi-fi card in my T3 and it hasn't crashed since (i.e. since Jan. 2007).

There's still nothing that can compare with some of the software I use on the Palm T3. Just two or three things left now, but still.. no replacement.

I also have a full-size, 5-row foldable keyboard, a bluetooth variant of the one pictured. Works fine. And being bluetooth, it also works with my newer gadgets. 1-0 to Bluetooth vs. serial..
