You might be able to use a small sewing needle to pull out the wire stub. Use some kind of magnifying glass. Try to stab the wire at a slight angle. Solid copper or tinned stranded copper wire is softer than a sharp steel needle, so you should be able to grab it with the needle point.

You probably scored the wire when you stripped it.
    (Don't do that.)

My brother got another wire stuck in my BOE!!!!!!!! This time, just the stub is in and it is stuck beyond my reach. The stub is flush with the I/O. I cannot stab the wire!

Sorry! False alarm. Sorry for taking up your time. With a LOT of effort, I got the wire out. It took me about an hour stabbing copper and steel. It worked though. Alternative soulutions would be good for more of the general public.

In extreme cases you might be able to pry the plastic part of the socket off, whereupon getting the broken wire out becomes a simple matter of fishing it from between the "tuning fork" contacts. Then carefully press the plastic piece back into place. This is possible with some (not all) connectors whose contacts are pressed in during manufacture, rather than being molded in.

Try to keep the ends of the wire from alot of bending back and forth. Also if you've built many projects with the same few wires, exchange them for new ones.
