Today is a grand day at work. Our two new Juki SMT lines are being unloaded. 7 large metal crates, 2 corrugated crates, and 15 corrugated pallets. Our new lines will be capable of placing 01005 size components at up to 40,000 CPH. As a bonus to our two lines, we also have a JX-100 machine that will be setup as a standalone machine for prototypes. So, Yes Virginia, there is a Santa Claus!!!!

EDIT: More Details..... The line shown is in a temporary location using our existing oven. Our two new ovens show up the first week of January and we will be able to plant the lines in their permanent homes then. Our Ekra Screen printers show up next week and we will have our Cyberoptics automated paste inspection machines in a coupe weeks. So the final line configurations will be:

PCB Loader
Ekra Screen Printer
Juki 2070
Juki 2070
Juki 2080
Juki tray feeder for 2080
BTU 10 zone oven
PCB unloader/stacker
Landrex AOI

We are also getting a Dage 3D X-ray that will be in our prototype cell along with the single Juki JX machine. And last but definitely not least, our Epilog EXT36 75 watt Laser Cutter (the same unit as Parallax but with the 4" lens option for thicker materials) shipped our way this week (....update 12/13...it's here!)

We tried to draw a 01005 but the smallest pencil we could get was 0.7mm. Back to the crayons

Please see the spot on Roosevelt's nose... it is 01005 SMT Capacitor. I think that qualifies as small!

I could inhale that thing and not even know it! I can't imagine a pick-and-place tip fine enough to handle something that small.

Andrew, congrats on the new machines. Your new SMT line provides us with some pretty serious production capacity only a mile away!

    Like Publison said "continued success".

I'll come over just after Christmas to see the Juki machines in action.

Nice pressies! First thought was 1005 - halfway between 1206 and 0805 - what another new package?? - and then I realised you meant metric, = 0402 to me ;)

I guess now we can miniaturise a bit smaller without worrying about digits, at least for a few years anyway. eg 1005=0402, then 0602=~0201, then 0201, but what next???

I updated the first post with a few more details of all the toys

@cluso, yes, 0402 metric, don't you hate that some of the metric and english SMT component naming overlaps?

@doggiedoc: I couldn't give any specifics on actual cost, but not something I could ever afford!

@publison: yes, we are fortunate in that we are growing well and these new machines will enable us to continue that growth by attracting new customers.

@ken: sounds excellent, we'll set up a time in early January, bring some co-workers.......

@martin: Actually, I am hoping that all of this will allow me to add a couple heads to my engineering staff

Wow, that was quick! The first board was processed on our new Juki line today. A simple board, but still, to go from crate to building in 3 days is amazing. I'll have a few more pics next week.

Update! Our Epilog EXT 75 watt laser arrived today! Same laser as Parallax, but we also got a rotary attachment and longer lens for thicker materials.

Wow. Very cool! You guys are on a roll! Can I infer that your fiscal year ends 31 December? :)

Our fiscal is July to June. The tidal wave is occurring because the budget/funding was consolidated making the approvals all at the same time.
