After using my 5yr old laptop, the hard drive fanally gave way. I was in the middle of a project and now its lost in that old hard drive ......... now I have to start all over again :frown:.

Before I look up the Basic Stamp Syntax manual, can or is there a way to retrive my code from the Basic Stamp 2, or is it locked in there and I have to start all over again?

Note to self back up files on flash and CD media.

Practically speaking, there is no way to recover the program from a Basic Stamp. It's not so much locked in there as inaccessible and what's accessible is mostly uninterpretable. Condolences. Sometimes you end up with a better product having reinvented it after a disaster.

Don't give up before you remove your old hard drive and hook it up as a secondary/slave in another computer. In many cases where the registry is corrupt and the OS won't boot, you can still read & retrieve most data from the hard drive.

@ Erco, I wish it was that simple; the Hard Drive is gone. I have tried diff. CPUs, LapTops, and external Accessories to read the Hard Drive but, in all cases, it will not show up in BIOS., no sound, nothing, just gone.... Thats ok, I did put it to work, just thought it will last a bit longer.

If the drive doesnt even show up in the bios chances are that the problem is in the board, and not the drive itself. Hit ebay for the same model and swap the control boards.
