How would I switch several cameras to one output with a propeller.

Is there a video switch chip out there?

thanks

Did you try DigiKey's "Search" function? That's the first place I go when looking for a specific kind of chip.

Keep in mind that unless you genlock (sync together) your cameras, you will have a glitch of a frame or two if you simply switch between them. You can get around this by buffering frames and keeping them synced yourself but I think that is beyond the ability of the propeller. On the plus side, if your cameras are able to sync to a master clock, the propeller is easily capable of generating LTC and VITC timecode!

If your cameras run from 12VAC, which many security cameras do, they will automatically be locked to the AC power line frequency. As to the switch, you might take a look at the schematic for the Propeller Backpack. It uses back-to-back MOSFETs to switch the incoming video stream in and out of the output for overlay purposes. The same technique might work in your app.
