...yeah, I knew the Title would get your attention
Yes, the time has come - we're clearing out all our remaining Quadrover stock - that's somewhere between 5 and 11 units !
So, what's the Contest? Publicity! App Notes! Projects that get attention, and World-wide Fame!
Write an article/review (about using Parallax stuff), and get it published - ideally this would be in a paper-rag/online combo.
Stamp/Propeller based?! Industrial/hobby based?! Parallax parts through Radio Shack involved? How about Fry's? Microcenter?
C Compiler stuff?! Be creative!
Our Central Selection Committee will be the sole judge(s) of who the winners are. Winner will be responsible for shipping charges to their destination - in the US, this is about $200.00 - $250.00.
Other rules and guidelines to come...
If you've got an idea about what you'd like to do to enter the Contest - post it here (or PM me to keep it private) for an opinion on whether or not your idea has merit and would be considered for the Prizes. This is an open-ended "BE CREATIVE" and show your PARALLAX SPIRIT Contest

Can we enter more than once? I've got more projects under wraps.
OBC
Hmm... I seem to recall the Quads were over by you in the warehouse. Does this mean they're needing the space to enlarge your office?

Very cool project, Jeff! But next time, introduce Michelle first if she's on camera. Freaked me out to hear your male voice introduce yourself while watching a telepathic young lady speak to me!

I am too young to get published... WHAT DO I DO????????:frown:
So, as the story goes (I know, I was there), we're in the warehouse and David (the guy that controls the warehouse) says to Ken, "I can't store any more *stuff* in here unless you get rid of something".
Without missing a beat, Ken says "Matt! Get these Quadrovers outta here - don't care! Make space! Move 'em out, Rawhide!"
So, here we are with a Another Amazing Parallax Contest :thumb:
Making up the rules as we go, naturally!
YES!

Not really, one and a two seat trailer should also make them happy.
For example, when is the end date? I would like to suggest July 31, 2012. Something this significant deserves time to focus (plus, my senior design class will end in June...).
I'm interested.
There is NO WAY that this is gonna drag on to July 2012 - what do you want me do? Store a pile of Quadrovers in my living room? When Mister Ken says "Move 'em out!", the timeline is, inherently quite short.
Yes, we need more than just a Forum post - how much more? hummm...
-Matt
Now you're playing our game, Cody! This is apparently how the rules take shape. Guess we'll have to see what the Central Selection Committee decides. They should be able to make a decision easily since they are a team of one. Heck, I didn't even know we had such a committee until I read this post.
Now, what's Matt thinking? He must have gone crazy! I don't remember any of this discussion today. . . oh wait, it's all coming back. Lots of things were going on at Parallax today and this was one of the things discussed. Indeed, this wonderful product has potential to age so all Quadrovers must find owners who can fill them with gas and oil.
Move 'em out, Rawhide, move 'em out! Cookie wants to set up an anodizing line and David wants his warehouse back! And take one home for yourself, Matt!
Mister Ken
Being right in the Motor city we're used to wheeled machines requiring gas and oil...
Robert
I been desiging a huminoid robot ( Like I need more projects) and that coupled with a alternator
would be the power source.

(I'm the one with both clock entries, in 2nd and 3rd place)
Plus, my blog gets several hundred hits a week: http://microcontrolled.com
Oh yea! Promoting Parallax just might pay off!
I'll try to publish some more Propeller stuff once I get these pesky applications done. I have a project I just finished that could be article-worthy.
....and OBC should get one for his "Projects no Platforms" campaign, then he could attempt to mount a defense against Microcontrolled.
BTW if you are going to have this contest extend for several months, at least let it end before summer break. I'll be off at college at the end of next August and if I DO win I won't have any time to play with it. That, and I want to work with it before UPENE. Don't think I was kidding about the turret!
OBC
"I vote we get one to Microcontrolled as soon as possible. I really want to see OBC being chased around at the next UPNE with a Quadrover mounting a Nerf bowling ball canon. I think Microcontrolled could sell tickets to that to pay for shipping." - mindrobots - lol
PING))) for detecting people on a path?
Time of Flight Laser Project
Quadratic Bezier Curves
...OBC, I'm thinking you better be prepared to run. :-)
Ha! That's what I've been waiting for... College is so busy trying to keep up with classes (is it possible to be a VHDL expert in one quarter?...) that I don't have time for projects. But the next two quarters half my class time will be on senior design, and I have been planning this for years now.
And of course, my senior design will use a Propeller.
'Sup wit dat, Dawg?
Ok, so I'm old and out of the loop. Was this something that I instigated and never wrapped up? Give me a thread and I'll track it down...
-Matt
So no worries, Matt! Give on!
Cheers, Jen J.
There. You see erco? You were mistaken - just like your whole plywood debacle ;-)
Game On!
