Spring toy motors

I would like to make a small toy for my little boy, but I would also like to use a spring loaded motor.
I can only find battery operated stuff, but digging in my toys I found a lot of spring loaded trains, cars, and so on. So I'm wondering if it is still possible to fine such engines. A web search didn't help, but maybe I'm simply missing the right keyword?
Thanks in advance,
Massimo

    Massimo,

did you try searching for a "wind up motor"?

If you search for spring motor, I'm afraid you'll be swamped by springs used on motors and not spring-powered motors.

    Hope that helps.

Massimo, il mio amico: I wish I could tell you about the new international Hot Wheels track race set coming out next year. All I can say is, no batteries required! I guarantee you and your son will like it. :)

It may be even more popular than our new Wall Tracks set which is a "hot toy" this Christmas: http://shopping.yahoo.com/articles/yshoppingarticles/737/hot-holiday-toys-for-2011/

    Thanks Erco.
    This must be great fun!!!
My little boy is still too young, so for this Christmas it would be too evident the gift is target the the father... but I'll try.. :-)

    Cheers,

Great topic... wind up toys seem to have become ignored in favor of battery powered. But there is no logical reason one cannot build an excellent robot with a wind up power source and a micro-controller adding useful features. I'd love to see such a hybrid solution as it has some wonderful advantages.
