Loot from recent Radio Shack rollout

As the Parallax products slowly roll in at one of my local Radio Shacks, I've been adding to my collection!

Here's what I've been able to "collect" so far:

Yes, I realize the packages are empty. I was too impatient to take any pictures before opening everything!

Hook, line & sinker! You are quite the Parallax collector. You DO realize that true collectors mut always buy TWO of everything. One to open & use, and a second one to keep perfect & sealed, preserving the ORIGINAL FACTORY AIR sealed within.

Yes. Thus my excuse to have to go back to Radio Shack often to inspect the new selections. :D

That's one way to show your Radio shack that the stuff DOES sell! I see you bought one of everything. You are quite the collector to put up with the high markup that RadioShack adds!

I didn't find the slight increase in price to be any hinderance. I am grateful to be able to bebop down to Radio Shack and grab more Parallax goodies. The delay from 'want' to 'have' is minimal that way. Online orders take long enough that sometime the 'impulse' to make something wanes by the time the order arrives.

That does play into my strategy. Admittedly I am a Parallax fanboy, but I am a Radio Shack fanboy too. I really want to see this DIY push succeed.

The Radio Shacks near me don't have anything from Parallax.

Fortunately there's a Fry's and MicroCenter nearby that do stock parallax products. The Fry's even stocks the proto board for "emergencies" :-)

Currently I've got a couple (or more) of most things I would be having urgent emergency needs for! The rest of the stuff I can get quickly enough via internet orders. I would like to see more third party stuff like gadget gangster type of stuff available at local store.

I try to "stock up" too. I would like to have a Fry's closer than 4 hour drive. I don't know of any MicroCenters.

I wonder if GG has production capacity to supply a Fry's or Radio Shack?

In theory Microcenter is a computer store but they have a growing collection of Parallax and Arduino products. As memory serves there are around 15-20 throughout the US. The problem with getting gadget gangster stuff into stores has as much to do with the lack of packaging as it does with production capability.

    I checked MicroCenter's website. The closest one is in Virginia . . . 425 miles away. :(

I normally feel left out when people on this forum talk about cool stores (Fry's, Harbor Freight). But I live a stones throw away from the Microcenter on Memorial Drive in Cambridge. I haven't been there in a month or so, but next time I will look for Parallax gear.

    Hello!
I don't. I've been to Harbor Freight. Some of their tools can rival either Sears (Craftsmen) or even the Home Depot selections. And some resemble a word I won't use here. Fry's sadly never made it this far. (The economy found a crater on the moon to hide in before that idea worked for them.)

The closest Microcenter to me is in Yonkers, about an hour and half by bus and subway to me. They have less then the Radio Shack does.

From the one I cited on one of the threads discussing the issues on Radio Shack (Manhattan, NY) I bought the Gyroscope Module 3-Axis L3G4200D (#27911) yesterday. Following the way the program and available PDF files say to do so produced a welcome sight on the IDE a debug terminal indicating the boards presence in 3D space. I gave an extensive write-up on doing that in the stamp one, but to put it simply, "It just works, by Gadfrey!"
