A tsunami of new forumistas?

Is it just me, or are there larger numbers than usual lately of posts from brand-new forumistas? If so, this is a very encouraging trend that reflects not only an increased interest in Parallax products but in DIY projects overall. Let's all be on the lookout for these newcomers to welcome them to the forum and to help them whenever we can.

    ...nope - it's not you.

    I've noticed the same.

Thanks Phil and davejames - you're totally correct. I know for a fact there are 100 new QuickStart owners in the last week who bought a board from RadioShack. There will be about 10,000 more of them in the next year.

Back in the big RadioShack thread it was suggested that we create a web site full of code to help them get comfortable with what they bought. This has been accomplished by Gordon and our crew over the last eight weeks and we hope to make that site live any day. Gordon will probably check in on this thread and give us an update. The examples include code for Propeller, BASIC Stamp and Arduino for all of the Parallax products you can buy in RadioShack.

Also, Andy's got a few new gems under wraps that should come out in December. Hard to keep my mouth shut. I don't know how he can keep quiet for six months.

We truly appreciate the friendly welcome for the newbies!

Thanks mindrobots. Doesn't mean it's easy for us by any means. Working with big retailers also means those boards could come back to our inventory if it doesn't work out. But as you know, the Propeller should be in RadioShack too.

Great news Ken. I have noticed an increased number of new faces too.

It is great to see the prop getting out there more. I see a lot more interest in the more complex things the prop can do easily, like VGA and keyboards, FM radio. They are just not that simple on a single core processor (as we all know).

Man, that's great news. And considering I've noticed some of the new Radio Shack employees actually know something about electronics, that's double the reason to hit those stores.
