Driving LCD Displays

Could the Basis Stamp II drive the LCD-S301C31TR? It looks easy according to http://www.ubasics.com/driving_static_lcds. Here's one more question: The display has 24 pins, but the BS2 has 16 I/Os, could I just not drive the third digit of the display or would that cause problems?

I would recommend finding a display with a serial backpack. They are also available as stand alone devices.

That LCD-S301C31TR is a numeric display, not a character type, driving it is going to be similar to a 7 segment LED display. There are chips that can be used to interface with it that will cut down on the number of i/o pins required, and/or you could multiplex.
