Telepresence Robot

I purchased this Medical cart with the idea of building a robot from it.

I have got the motors mounted but i still have to make the perment brackets.

I have gutted the battery box of all the old electronics. And tried test fitting the mother board (mini itx), compute power supply and Propeller board. I would like to get everything inside the box but that may not work. Also Im considering just using a laptop because of the motherboard power needs.

The monitor that i got with the cart is still not working but if i cant fix it i still can use the mounting brackets.

A great idea as long as you keep the CG low and it never falls over! :)

30 pounds of batteries in the base and the cool part is the mast moves up and down via actuator so i can just program it to move at slow speed unless the mast is down and then switch to faster speed

Looking at the bottom, it's just made for some foot holds. The upper part has the handles. It could double in function as a human transport vehicle.

    Graffix; Free is always good.

I really like the Wheel chairs / Power chairs you get a whole lot of stuff all in one package. Motors, frame wheels.

What is your plan for it?

I just got this also but as of yet I have no plans other than driving it around and doing a bad of Steven Hawakings

I have similar motors. I removed the electromagnetic brake coil from the end and would like to put shaft encoders on it. There's a company called servotek that makes them but they don't answer any inquiries. Do you have any ideas for an encoder for that motor?
