Counter experts... Any possible way to clock in a data stream or other method?

I am looking at ways to try and up the ante in a USB device scenario. At LS the usb runs at 1.5Mbps and uses NRZ. I am sure I can use the VGA counters to shift out my bitstream. However, reading the bitstream is what I am looking at. I have seen BradC's code, but I am looking at other possible methods. The counters will be sitting doing nothing and I thought there may be ways to utilise them.

If I cannot clock in the bits (and I really don't think there is any way, but I do want to be certain) then I may look at timing the time between bit changes and some form of lookup table. Bit stuffing occurs after 6 zeros. I am trying to do other things while the bit stream is being assembled, and being transmitted.
