Did I build my motor controller properly?

I posted another thread like this but I dunno what happened to it... Maybe it didn't go through? (darn crappy internet) ...So sorry if this is a double post

Any ways I'm trying to build a motor controller, but I'm not totally sure if I've got mine assembled properly.

I'd post the schematics I'm trying to follow, but photobucket just errors when I try uploading it for some reason.

For now I'm just trying to make a controller that goes in one direction at variable speed, without frying anything lol. I turned it on, the motor started, and I was able to control the speed. I was able to turn motor on and off several times and nothing popped or melted; everyhting still works.

Is this circuit safe for the ICs & etc?
