This has even been making the news over here in Australia. 'Tis indeed a strange world. So they have caught the dastardly beard trimmers?

    Heck, that's nothing.
Near here, in central PA, I've heard of unemployed people stealing beards and selling them to the circus.

I think some those "occupiers" in NYC are in need of a good shave, maybe we should send the Mullet family up there with some of those fancy Panasonic shavers...

Yes, I heard some big cuts might be happening in NYC after unemployment runs out for 1.8 million Americans in January.
Then 6 million Americans by the end of 2012.
And who says history never gets to repeat itself?

Careful there, we don't want to turn this into a political discussion.. :)

I just thought that you guys would find this interesting since NE Ohio is the location of our UPENE event.

This behavior is very strange to see in the Amish. I've had the pleasure of getting to know many of them. They are quiet, hard working, interesting people. The idea of seeing mugshots of Amish is beyond words here.

I found this line in the article to be the most interesting:

"He said they used scissors and battery-powered clippers in the attack."

I thought that the Amish weren't allowed to use power tool? Blaspheme I tell you blaspheme!

I had thought so too until a couple years ago, then I heard a friend of mine who did business with some of them via cell phones. My friend told me that their attitude is that technology isn't frowned upon per se, so long as it's not disruptive of their lives. So some keep their cell phones out in a building and use them only in emergencies or when there's money to be made. They have solar panels on their barn roofs to power them.

Of course, I'm sure it depends on the different groups, too. The spectrum of what's tolerated seems to be fairly broad.

Hmm, you think perhaps unbridled capitalism might not be the perfect system after all?

I suppose it depends on whether or not you're somebody who sells guillotines.
