hello,

ive had a problem. I have to do some programming of a boebot stamp for a project but Mac BS2 cant identify the stamp...when it tries to it says: couldn't open serial connection. serial adapter plugged in? port selected?

but there are no ports to choose from. its as if the boebot is not plugged in. but it is. i did a little bit of programming on a pc and it was fine. and i used the cord that i have so its not a cord problem. a friend said i needed tokenizer but it gives me an application to open Warcraft (an RPG game)

PLEASE HELP!!!

    PLEASE HELP!!!
It would help us if you would give us more info. You do need to tell us the version of your OS and some idea of how you are connected including the model of the USB cable if you are using one.

It's probably your USB to serial adapter. Many of them are cheap and leave out features that are needed for the programming process. Generally the ones that use the FTDI chipset work. Parallax makes several different ones and you can buy others directly from FTDI or their distributors. You also need the FTDI driver installed. Download a copy directly from FTDI (here) and install it with the adapter NOT plugged in. You will need the Mac version of the tokenizer which MacBS2 should download for you, but you can download a copy explicitly from here with the link at the bottom of the page. Follow the instructions included for installation.

There's nothing wrong with MacBS2 or the tokenizer or the USB to serial driver. I've used them all with a variety of Macs and MacOSX versions up through Snow Leopard.. It doesn't work with Lion.

Make sure you've got your BoeBot turned on with fresh batteries once you get the port to show up.
