Well... Its already rolling into October and I haven't heard much buzz about the upcoming Propeller 2.

I used to be a stamper about 7 years ago, but have since moved away from basic. Everything I read about the Propeller 2 says it is planned for this year. Has there been any update I've missed? Is this still being released this year? I need an early xmas present.

Easy 30hz 1080p output with room to spare on each core, 92 i/o......im sold! Take my money!

Is anyone else excited to try it out???

Santa is not going to drop little Prop 2 chips in anyone's stockings this year. You haven't missed an update. As of this summer's unofficial Parallax workshops, it's still being developed. The I/O pad circuitry has gone through one round of test silicon and seems to have passed muster, but it'll need a few more rounds for sure and those don't happen overnight. The core processors and hub logic were still being worked on with the help of a 3rd party chip design house. I don't know what the status of software is (like a Spin interpreter), but the ROM won't have a Spin interpreter in it. That'll be supplied either via an SD card file or partially pre-loaded EEPROM or flash memory or something like that. It's actually a good idea since it moves the Spin interpreter to an equal footing with other interpreters.

Note: All of the above is based on things that have been posted here that you can go back and read for yourself. I don't mean to try to dampen your excitement, but Parallax has always said that it'll be ready when it's ready and it'll be done when it's done ... and done well.

Every year they say the same. I already lost count. lol

I'll give an update: Things are going very well or very badly.

Cheer up! That's actually good news. It means when the Prop 2 is released it will be as solid and long term as many other products that Parallax has put out there. The fact that the BS1 is still available says it all for me.

I all honesty, I am still learning to fully exploit the Propeller 1. And of course, that means re-reading the documentation, especially the tutorials. It is still a great chip that makes the hardest of tasks seem easy.

I do appreciate having a periodic update without trying to read through rather long threads. Whenever it comes, it will be fun and challenging.
