Stacker Robot
You boys seen the new Stacker robot kit from ServoCity? Friggin' genius, a 2-axis (elbow & gripper) arm on wheels!

Elegantly simple, this new form factor solves SO many problems with robot arms. I'm mad I didn't think of it! There's a writeup and an advert in the new (Nov/Dec?) issue of ROBOT magazine. My only gripe is that they market it as a radio control type product. If ever there was a robot in need of a uC and wheel encoders, this is it! They sell the plastic-only kit for $140. You provide the servos and (UGH) radio. WHY did they stop short of making such a great robot? I guess it's up to us now...

Don't get me wrong. I do buy from Servo City from time to time, but only if I can't build it myself or get it cheaper from somewhere else.
Just a thought.

Looks like balance could be interesting. Need to hang at least a 12oz "battery" off the back to make it functional.

I've also seen NXT fork lifts do some pretty impressive things as well. But they require the gear rack mechanism which must be bought separately.
Oh, and I completely agree about radio control of this bot being pointless.

I found the video over at Let's Make Robots.

Makes for really stable lifts...
I have allways wanted to put a remote control into one of these things. That way I don't have to be under the load...

The Rooster dates back some time, and while there are differences in design, I'd say the new one is a bit simpler and therefore better. The sail winch servo does it.
Both would be cheaper (overall) if they were programmable, as that would save the cost of the R/C transmitter and receiver. It would also be a challenge to program, and would need several types of sensors.
