8-inch Ativa photo frame not looking so hackable

It's much easier to work with than the 7-inch frame, but ultimately there are about a dozen signals involved and it looks like the horizontal scan rate is in the 30 microsecond range, which suggests a VGA-like 26 MHz dot clock rate. But nothing is familiar, and it's not the symmetric RGB I found in the 7-inch DVD player and photo frame. I will look into it a little further after some thinking, but I think the bottom line is if you want to turn a photo frame into a monitor this is a really good time to buy the Ativa 7 incher on sale for $29, and I need to post the color driver and build details. I may just end up using the 8-incher as a photo frame.
