Part lookup / search

Heyo,

just wanted to know if you all have a better way to find part information than from google, et al..

i have a screen from my ( not so old ) previous cell phone and would like to incorporate it into a project or at least get it to turn on w/o frying it. I would hook it back to the phones board, but my voltmeter probes are nowhere near small enough to get into that super tiny ribbon cable connector.

So, below is the q-code and numbers that are on the back of the display. the only information I am able to find about it is the screen resolution ( 480*800 ) and the models of phones that use it such as the HTC Incredible among others.

is it possible that this may just be a ribbon version of VGA connection, or is that wishful thinking?

All I can find on the net is lots of sites selling the part, but no documentation.

What I can say, though, is that the part does NOT have anything to do with VGA signals. It's quite probably using some sort of serial communication, but again, I have no specifications. There's also Power wires in the cable. If you look closely, you may be able to spot some that are thicker than others, but again, I have no specifications. There may even be a low voltage AC in there... (Some LCD panels can be really weird... )
Is it touch sensitive? Then a few ofthe wires have to do with that, too.

In short, unless you ask the manufacturer directly, I wouldn't exactly hold my breath while waiting to find out how to use it. And that's if you're lucky and the manufacturer actually cares about hobbyists.(The chance of that is slightly less than finding a block of dry ice in a certain place where the leadership have horns, a tail and hoofs, and the atmosphere smells of burning sulphur... )

Thank you for your input.

I've been poking at all the tiny connections a little bit, but with no luck. There are 39 strands in the cable of which, about 1/4 are near double the width of the rest.

The phone did have a touch interface, but that portion was destroyed thanks to a mishap on a playground. The touch interface had it's own ribbon connection to the phones mainboard, so I am sure that I can rule that out of the connections.

I'm going to attempt to find data on the chips that the cable connected to, and see if that leads anywhere... well, just as soon as I can peel the aluminum framework from around the chips anyway.
