Xbee capabilities

I am new to zigbee, but if I have a network of 50+ devices, all with a unique address, each has a basic stamp microcontroller with a zigbee pro antenna/adapter with tx and rx wired to 2 of the open pins, and each device randomly will serout a few bytes, can zigbee handle this load? Also, I want to simply have the coordinator (parent) zigbee device be a pc, preferably with the Xbee USB stick. The data from all the devices will be logged (time, address, bytes) and also manipulated with the pc. I have found a lot of documentation on using a basic stamp as the coordinator device, but I just want to use the USB to pc stick and forego the parent basic stamp.
