These two statements from the listing have me burning up:
APPEARS NOT TO EVER BEEN USED
RELEASED FROM LOCAL ISD VOCATIONAL SCHOOL
That is SO WRONG on so many levels. And sad.

I use quart canning bottles in my lab. It would be great to have robot arm capable of lifting a full (and empty) bottle on to a balance and then replacing the bottle in its original position after the weight is recorded.
I figure I'd probably need to modify the claw and maybe add a force sensor inside the claw so it wouldn't break the bottles (if it's strong enough).
It looks like it uses plastic gears but the motors look adequate for my needs.
Any thoughts?

I think I'll probably bid on this one.
Thanks for the heads up.

Must... resist... bidding... myself...
Because it has belts and if the gears are nylon, one would probably not want to do continuous fine resolution commercial reposition assembly. For that commercial work, typical designs use a ball screw assembly and more direct transmission.
I favor robot arms having worked a number of years on designing and manufacturing a robot arm product for industrial precision applications in manufacturing where continuous use and fine repeatability was involved along with chemical dispensing. I'm currently working on a robot arm for defense and security applications on this project. http://forums.parallax.com/showthread.php?124495-Fill-the-Big-Brain
