1.5g servos
Lately I've won several Ebay bids on these tiny linear 1.5 g servos: http://cgi.ebay.com/2x-1-5-g-Rc-servo-Ultra-Micro-3D-flight-1-5-Gram-/230659474707?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item35b4604513
Been winning at prices like 2 for $6.50. They are quite nifty, and obviously very different from a rotary servo. Main problem is finding a micro connector that fits. They operate with the normal pulsouts from 1-2 ms long.
They are intended for ultralight RC airplanes. Dunno exactly what I'm gonna use them for yet. A micro walker and an ultralight robot gripper are candidates, though. I'm sure you folks might have uses as well.

erco if you make a walker or crawler you might have the first one ever made.

and they offer 100-packs of the female crimp connectors. Basic crimp tool is $20 at Fry's.
Though a bit more expensive, HobbyKing (direct China importer) has these if you need to pick right or left. Here's a left-hand action:

Do bear in mind the ones you're buying are probably for the domestic China and Asia markets. The ones imported here are usually a bit better quality control.

Heh... tiny servos... perhaps a walker made with toothpicks! (Walking away quickly now!)
