Propeller course

Hi,

I wanted to share the experience I had today by giving a little crash course on programming the Propeller. I'm working for the summer in a laboratory where they test oil and paper insulation in power transformer. Some of the people there have some automation duty to do, and they struggle with the PIC18 in assembly to get their job done. I then decided to give a little class on propeller programming. I joined some demos from the PE kits and some home made demos to initiate my colleague (bachelor and graduate students) . I made a little powerpoint and we took the afternoon reviewing my example applications. We had a lot of fun messing around with some demo board, usb protoboard and barebone propeller dip chip I had bought for the demo. It always amaze me how the propeller is a fun microcontroller and is easy to use. My colleague were astonished by the capabilities of this little chip, and how much they could do with a bit of code and the OBEX. I think they are sold! Expect them to join the forum soon :)

I attached my demos and powerpoint in the thread, it is in french

Fred

Each year, I participate to a robotic design competition in Canada against lots of Universities. This year, I've been chosen to be the president of a group of 20 students on my campus. I've found it was the perfect opportunity to teach some lessons about the propeller to the persons that are willing to help us with the robot. I then decided to give the same crash course I gave this summer. I bought 20 P8X32A Quickstart and gave them to the students so they can follow the formation, and practice at their home.

Like last time, we had a lot of fun :)

It would be cool if parallax had some plans for people like me who teach to other people the rudiments of propeller programming.
