Somebody please tell these "Prius Project" geeks:

1) Not everything is better with an iPhone
2) Neurotechnology is overrated
3) New cyclists couldn't use it, real cyclists wouldn't want it
4) Simplicity is the elegance of cycling

What if it rains? ... ohh, wait, if your in the mid-west this time of year it doesn't rain for months. :-) ... will the electronics survive at 110 Deg temps? Would the head gear still work under 'salty' conditions? It's bad enough when it gets into my eyes. So many questions ... I agree with you erco!! 1,2,3 & 4

Because you haven't paid Neurosky $130?

I don't know about anybody else, but I had trouble trying to glean out the technical information from verbage like this:
In search of an answer, Toyota and Saatchi enlisted the help of renowned bike builder Parlee Cycles and the masterminds of Deeplocal to build the Prius X Parlee (PXP) concept bicycle over the course of ten weeks. Imbued with the spirit of Prius, this aero-road bike is also a purpose-built machine that blends simplicity with the complex to become a better, more efficient version of something that already exists.
Anyhow, shouldn't a Prius inspired bicycle carry a couple of hundred pounds of batteries, generators and motors? :D

I also has to be an environmental nightmare to produce, but have such good marketing it can convince the world it's "green".

@Dave Hein: I like this: "....a purpose-built machine that blends simplicity with the complex to become a better, more efficient version of something that already exists. " So, adding electricity to something that doesn't need it nor currently uses it is a "more efficient" machine?? Does it generate it's own power, and if so, what is the point? It's not worth hundreds of dollars to me to be able to switch gears without touching the gear shift, and you would have to be mentally trained to do so anyway!

This whole thing is just a trap for the environmentalists *cough* hippies *cough* to jump on because it has the Prius name on it.

Forget the "neuro" bike - how about a car that you can only start through your brain waves? Then the woman who ran a red light in front of me today and the buffoon who almost merged into the side of my car last week would have never even been on the road.

NO, the real Prius should have pedals.

With enough of the right technology, we will all be walking. Is this 1984, Newspeak?

But Prius isn't technology, it isn't batteries, it's a lifestyle, a way of living and thinking...it transcends the automotive to touch the heart and sole and moral fiber of a person to design the right way, manufacture the right way, to the needs of the earth as much as your own needs....

...it's a con job, a way to charge more and take money from a certain group of people who are more than willing to part with their green to support green and according to the old saying, there's one born every minute!!

From there, it's only a small step until the "backseat driver", whom you loathe, is similarly equipped!

Wow, a lot of great ingenuity wasted on a worthless idea. It's obvious those guys are extremely clever, but throwing in the neuro-junk cheapens the overall concept. I really like the look of the bike though. Reminds me of the Kestrel Talon.

I never noticed this before. I got the impression that the Mindflex and Starwars trainers were just galvonic skin response junk.

They even have one for $99. Is this for real?

The neurosky sets do real EEG, but it's noisy and just one channel. I have a mindflex and it actually outputs the raw data; the frequency band data are consistent with FFT being applied to the raw data stream. The toys do not output the raw data. I think the new $99 unit is a Mindflex minus the headphone function.
