How did they do that?

I would love to know how they did it?

It almost appears to be surface mount LEDs on some sort of wire on the outside of the model.

I think it would be funner to have the lights blink!

Our model train club sets up at the SAC museum in Thanksgiving to Christmas, this would be a blast!

    One way is to use wire wrap wire to connect several smt leds in series with hot melt glue for mounting. I have done that to create large 7 segment displays. For 8x12 character displays connect them in a matrix. Soldering them is a bit of a challenge but doable.

    Another method is to use the peel and stick rolls of flat copper wire used to repair damaged pcb traces.
