Hello Everyone

I just got the most awesome email and I thought I would share it with the forum members. As many of you know, I have a patent pending for a device that will be used in the electrical construction industry. And as many of you also know, I have created a CNC machine that uses two Propeller chips, and this machine will produce 25,400 units per day of this device. I was just granted an interview/demonstration with one of the largest electrical contractors in the midwest region by the VP of the company. Furthermore, this contractor is a subsidary of a much larger electrical contracting organization that had over $1,700,000,000 in sales in 2009. I only have two questions remaining:
  1. How much money can I save them?
  2. And how much can I earn by saving them this money?
I will have fun discovering the answers to these questions. :)

    Yes, congrats!

But maybe you can hold off sharing any of your SERIN jokes with them. You'll want to save those, uh, for your friends. :-)

Don't worry about that.... The demonstration will be strictly business. :) So you did not like my SERIN joke? :)

    Howdy Walt

I sent them an email last week, along with a hyperlink to the patent application so they could review it before granting a demonstration. After three days of no reply, I kind of gave up hope of getting a response, but to my ultimate surprise, I got a response email today. They must have liked the concept and want to see it work.

I will have to cross that bridge when I get there. However I must say, that if I am granted the patent. I will enforce it to my fullest potential.

    I'd take a second look at R.O.C.

    They don't do patents,copy-rights-etc.
    '
We also owe them a boat-load of money!

Congratulations and best of luck. Just make sure you count your fingers after each visit and you don't give too much away! There is a certain company that has a huge turnover that continually seems to steal others inventions.

I am going to give them the most complete demostration that I can provide. Additionally, I will probably give them enough product to get them addicted to its simplicity and usefullness :)

Are you planning on selling / licensing the machines, or the work product of the machines?

    Both?

A while back, a good friend of mine developed a great gear reduction starter design. Would crank *anything* over. Got to make a pitch to the Post Office, who would be interested in such a thing for obvious reasons. A month later, lots of parts were flowing from Asia. Be careful indeed. They under-cut his already efficient operation, and he had patent protection. Problem was, exercising it cost $$$, more than he had after developing the tech. Ended up making some money selling into niches, but the big fish were perfectly happy to take what they could get elsewhere.

He gave a demonstration, left no sample parts, asked for NDA, got it, and the reproductions were produced just from the information he shared on one trip. Scary stuff. No mechanical drawings were shared either. Just the demonstration, and the Patent citation. I actually produced all his mechanical drawings and models, derived from actual machined parts he supplied me, so I know there was nothing out there, but for the patent info.

    @potatohead

In the future, I may sell wire bending CNCs and well as other types of machines, but my first priority and current plans are to just sell the product and to make the most of it.

IMHO, that is quite likely the safest path. As the others said, "good luck, and stay sharp!"

Thank you, however don't envy me just yet, I still have a demonstration and a sales pitch to present. When I get an order for 1,000,000 units, that would be the time to starting envying :)

By all means congratulations! Just be careful that some in Washington don't discover you. I have a feeling that you'll rapidly become a part of the class 'Not paying their fair share' in taxes. All your hard work, after all, must have come at the expense of someone. Very nicely done!

If Bruce's new product helps electrify razor-wire fences, then Washington will probably be very happy to buy quite a number of them. I predict that, as soon as all the old people find out how much of their Medicare just got slashed, it won't be long before we see legions of octogenarians armed with broken walkers and wheelchair accessories perform a slo-mo storming of the Congressional offices. But that's where my new company will help keep the peace: DIY Hip Replacement Kits, LLC. I intend on starting with hips and then branching out into Cardiac Bypasses and Kitchen Table Tracheotomies. Wish me luck!

@WebheadFred - Thank you. You are correct, it was a lot of hard work. I came close to giving up a couple of times, and now I am glad I didn't.

@ElectricAye - If you don't mind signing a few non-disclosure agreements, I may have a fews ideas for your new business

Well thank you very much Dr_Acula! That was a very nice compliment and I sincerely appreciate it. I also wish the best for you and everyone else in the forum.

How is that project of yours going (Decontructing a video driver)? I thought that was quite interesting.

Of course I always try to be an optimist, but just for a second, let's suppose that it does not go well for me. That could be three years of hard work down the drain, complete financial disaster, and I hit rock bottom.

So now I ask, will the little people remember me if and when I make it to the bottom?
